Decorex International
22-25 Sept 2013
Perks Field & The Orangery, Kensington Palace
Decorex is a slightly different type of show compared to the others I've visited this year.
It is a trade show of high end luxury products rather than launching funky new designers and has much more of a stuffy typical trade show atmosphere but here are the best bits of this years Decorex through my eyes as its not what you look at that matters its what you see!
Show Highlights
So lets start with...... in my opinion the most creative and interesting piece of the show.
|
Jessica Zoob and Karl Smith |
The camera really doesn't do these
beautiful sculptures justice, the attention to detail and combination of
different materials and textures painstaking layered slowly over about
four months creates such an interesting piece.
A block of discovery for the eye, each time you look you will notice something different.
Both Jessica and Karl were both very passionate about their work and took the time to explain to me the story behind it but I'm sorry to say I'm now blogging this a month later and my version of the story is a bit hazy so rather than misrepresent it I just want to say there is a really good well thought out story behind these sculptures that I was impressed with at the time.

Little Greene |
I love that the Little Greene Paint company have created a funky piece of art to draw attention to their product and at the same time showcase their tonal range.

And So To Bed |
And So To Bed had a large statement stand which I really loved, one everyone will remember.
This is my first encounter with this company and I instantly get the image their brand is portraying and will definitely remember it.

And So To Bed |
I absolutely love this next stand!
A london townhouse with its own little SW street sign in the middle of the exhibition hall love it!
Interesting twist with the materials and design of the champagne bar, its the complete opposite of what one would expect a champagne bar to be and a complete contrast to the high end luxury products surrounding it with its a garden shed/ allotment feel to it.
Simply stunning luxury embroidered wall panels, another show favorite!

Claire Coles |
If your looking for something really quirky as a dinner party conversational piece Objet de Curiosite is the place to come. Inspired by the 17th century curiosity cabinet you are definitely going to get a piece that people comment on.

Timorous |
I love the way the fabrics have been displayed on the wall in different sized needlework frames and then spread across the walls, very funky!
|
GSD George Spencer Designs |
Really love this old fashioned gardening style print fabric by Ian Sanderson who also had a really funky stand.
